TECOS Slovenian Tool and Die Development Centre have been cooperating with Gorenje for the development of new household appliances for many years. Last year we upgraded the cooperation with participation in the project SPOT: The Development of Breakthrough Technology-based Self-adaptive Household Appliances.
Project description:
The availability of technologies allows individuals to no longer have to deal with tedious, repetitive tasks. Therefore, each of us much rather than carrying out routine and repetitive chores, such as laundry care, preparing and storing food, etc. spends his or her time immersed in online or real-time contact with friends or spends their leisure time otherwise. Thus, people’s expectations towards increased task automation have moved and transferred to areas where they have not been present so far. At the same time this means opening up of excellent marketing opportunities for the development of smart self-adaptive technologies for appliances and devices that can address the above-mentioned user wishes.
Within the framework of the project, we, at the consortium of companies and research institutions, will on the basis of in-depth research and development realize global technological breakthrough in the field of creating self-adaptability of household appliances. The developed solutions will enable home appliances to detect and recognize key parameters on their own, and subsequently make automatic performance adjustments using advanced technologies. The device setup and operation will be automated to such an extent that far less user input will be required. In some segments, these devices will offer quality of life which will be at an unimaginably higher level with regard to limitations to which we are accustomed to with the current state-of-the-art technology. The developed solutions will also allow connectivity to the wider smart home and even smart city ecosystems.
TECOS's role:
The main role of TECOS in the project will be design of concepts, analyses, processing, building and laboratory testing of samples for guiding and controlling the heat flow, analysis and execution of integration of guiding and controlling the heat flow in the evaporator, condenser and other areas of the refrigerator and laboratory measurements of energy flows.
The investment is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union under the European Regional Development Fund.
