Permanent magnets are key components of modern technologies, and establishing circular solutions for their processing and reuse represents an important step towards Europe’s sustainable future. The SICAPERMA partnership consortium, which includes TECOS Slovenian Tool and Die Development Centre, as a project partner, brought together experts, project partners and stakeholders from across Europe at an event organised in cooperation with the Slovenian Business & Research Association (SBRA) in Brussels. The event highlighted the importance of connecting complementary knowledge and approaches in the field of rare earth elements and permanent magnet materials, while emphasising the need for stronger interregional cooperation to develop circular and resilient value chains.
The SICAPERMA project event provided a valuable platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience, with experts from various institutions and European projects presenting current challenges and opportunities related to the implementation of circular economy principles in the field of permanent magnets and rare earth elements, supporting Europe’s green and digital transition.
Particular attention was also given to the technical aspects of the project. During the capacity-building workshop, participants addressed dismantling and pre-processing procedures for products containing magnets, as well as the related challenges of industrial implementation. In addition, perspectives on industrial applications were presented within the PERMANET Hub focus group, which focuses on industrial equipment and process automation.
The event represented an important opportunity for exchanging knowledge, experience and good practices, as well as for strengthening cooperation among SICAPERMA project partners. TECOS representatives particularly highlighted their active role in developing innovative solutions in the field of circular economy and sustainable material processing.
Participants agreed that the discussions held and the connections established will provide important guidance for the further implementation of the SICAPERMA project, which aims to strengthen interregional cooperation and accelerate the development of circular solutions for the reuse of permanent magnets and rare earth elements in Europe.
