CIRCOTRONIC for circular solutions of the manufacturing electrical and electronic equipment challenges

TECOS Slovenian Tool and Dye Development Centre together with 11 partners led by the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce, joins the Transnational Network of Circular Laboratories for EEE project, or CIRCOTRONIC for short. The project addresses the challenges of the production of electrical and electronic equipment within the framework of the Interreg Central Europe Programme.

The production of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) is growing rapidly with the digitization of the economy, society and our everyday life, but it has significant negative impacts on the environment, which arise from the use of materials, emissions and the use of chemicals and waste. 12 partners from the fields of economic support, the academic world, policy making and regional development joined the project consortium in pursuit of several goals to:

  • promote sustainable growth by transforming EEE production in Central Europe according to the principles of the circular economy into efficient processes, value chains, products and services in order to reduce the negative impact of EEE on the environment,
  • design a policy framework and implement circular economy policy measures that support the circular production of EEE and the management of waste as resources.

Most of the partners of the CIRCOTRONIC project cooperate as a transnational network of regional circular laboratories, which seek joint solutions by introducing the principles of the circular economy in the production of EEE in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In doing so, we strive to capitalize on knowledge, tools, approaches and instruments from existing projects and initiatives, and we want to adapt and test them in the EEE production sector.

TECOS, with its wide network and experience, coordinates the development and piloting of tools and approaches necessary for the circular transition of EEE manufacturers, and at the same time established a circular laboratory. As an active project partner, we will work primarily to include an action plan for the transition to a circular economy in our home eastern cohesion region.

Partners: Slovenian Chamber of Commerce, Emilia-Romagna Region, Bavarian Research Alliance, Technical University of Košice, Business Upper Austria – Upper Austrian business agency Ldt, t2i Technology transfer and innovation, Academy of Arts in Szczecin, Vienna University of Technology,  Agency for the Support of Regional Development Košice, Radex Zbigniew i Tomasz Nagay sp. j., ELVEZ ( Manufacture of cable harnesses and processing of plastic, d.o.o.) and TECOS.
